Pour lui, ces enregistrements sont “le trésor d’une vie”, mémoire vivante d’un patrimoine musical voué à disparaître…
Depuis le retour des Talibans en 2021, la musique est interdite en Afghanistan, les instruments détruits et les artistes persécutés. Au Pakistan, les musiciens exilés affrontent une nouvelle menace : les expulsions massives qui visent les réfugiés afghans. Accusés par le gouvernement pakistanais d’être liés au terrorisme, près d’un million de réfugiés ont déjà été renvoyés. Soutenus par des avocats et des activistes pakistanais, les musiciens se battent pour obtenir l'asile. Dans l’attente, ils continuent de jouer, d’enregistrer et de transmettre leur musique pour survivre et préserver leur héritage.
