Spakenburg, Netherlands is a charming historic fishing village located in the province of Utrecht, near the city of Amersfoort. It is officially part of the municipality of Bunschoten and is often referred to as Bunschoten-Spakenburg.1. Historic Fishing Heritage:
Spakenburg is famous for its traditional wooden fishing boats called botters. These were used for fishing on the Zuiderzee (now the IJsselmeer) before the Afsluitdijk was built.
The town has one of the last working botter harbors in the Netherlands, giving visitors a chance to step back in time.
