TRENGGALEK, KOMPAS.TV - Hari pertama sekolah di tahun ajaran baru, SD Negeri 1 di Desa Kendalrejo, Trenggalek tercatat hanya menerima satu siswa baru.
Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1 yang berada di Desa Kendalrejo, Kecamatan Durenan, Trenggalek, Jawa Timur pada tahun ajaran ini hanya mendapat satu siswa baru.
Kondisi ini menjadi perhatian karena pada tahun sebelumnya banyak siswa yang mendaftar.
Meski hanya ada satu siswa, kegiatan belajar mengajar tetap berjalan seperti biasa.
Guru tetap melaksanakan masa pengenalan lingkungan sekolah kepada satu siswa baru ini.
Kepala Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1 Kendalrejo mengaku penurunan jumlah peserta didik baru disebabkan sedikitnya lulusan dari taman kanak-kanak di wilayah tersebut.
Untuk meningkatkan jumlah siswa, berbagai upaya telah dilakukan pihak sekolah, mulai dari sosialisasi ke sekolah TK hingga pendekatan langsung kepada orang tua atau wali murid.
Kondisi sekolah kekurangan murid juga terjadi di Kabupaten Madiun, Jawa Timur.
Meski hanya mendapat dua siswa baru, SDN Wayut 01 tetap menggelar masa pengenalan lingkungan sekolah atau MPLS. MPLS digelar selama lima hari.
Masa pengenalan lingkungan sekolah untuk siswa baru SDN Wayut 01 melibatkan atau digabung 18 siswa lain yang merupakan kakak kelas, mulai kelas dua sampai dengan kelas enam.
Tujuannya agar siswa baru mampu untuk bersosialisasi dan mengenal satu per satu siswa dari kelas lain.
Meski begitu, MPLS tetap disesuaikan dengan porsi masing-masing kelas.
