Colour theory goes far beyond simply choosing colours that look good together. In this video, I'm breaking down the colour theory techniques graphic designers can actually use, with practical visual examples showing how colour can control attention, establish hierarchy, create rhythm and build stronger focal points.
We'll also explore how colour in graphic design changes perception โ€” creating depth, temperature, visual weight and even perceived value. You'll see how relatively small colour decisions can completely change how someone reads and experiences a design, and how combining colour theory with other graphic design principles makes these techniques even more powerful.
Then we'll move into colour psychology and branding, looking at positioning, category conventions, brand recognition and why certain colours become so strongly associated with particular companies. I'll also show how designers can use colour for visual communication, functionality and emotion rather than simply aesthetics.
