Bien qu’il ne soit pas riche, il paie son Étrog très cher sans jamais marchander. Un jour, intrigué, le vendeur décide d’aller voir Rabbi Israël à la synagogue pendant Souccot. À sa grande surprise, il découvre que le Rav utilise un Étrog tout à fait ordinaire ! L’année suivante, Rabbi Israël achète encore chez lui un Étrog magnifique et coûteux. Et à la synagogue, le vendeur constate exactement la même chose : le Rav utilise encore un Étrog banal.
