Exploring sunspots, solar flares, and powerful solar storms, Daglis explains how these phenomena trigger the northern lights while also putting modern power grids, satellites, and communications at real risk, showing why understanding our star is crucial to protecting life. Yannis Daglis is a Professor at the University of Athens, a Member of the International Academy of Astronautics, and Greece’s National Representative to international space-related organizations. He served as the first President of the Hellenic Space Center (2020–2025). He has been invited as an expert and evaluator by NASA, the European Commission, and numerous national funding agencies.
