Scontro galattico tra Via Lattea e Andromeda? Non è così semplice come pensavamo
Il famoso "scontro galattico" tra la nostra Via Lattea e la vicina galassia di Andromeda è da molto una previsione ben nota e molto discussa. Si è sempre pensato che le due giganti galassie fossero su una traiettoria di collisione che avrebbe portato a un'epocale fusione tra circa 4,5 miliardi di anni. Ma è davvero così semplice?In questo video, scopriremo come le ultime e più precise osservazioni del Telescopio Spaziale Hubble e del satellite Gaia stiano mettendo seriamente in discussione questa certezza. Un nuovo studio, intitolato "No certainty of a Milky Way–Andromeda collision" e pubblicato su Nature Astronomy, rivela che il futuro del nostro Gruppo Locale è molto più incerto di quanto pensavamo.
