Valentina Piccinini, torinese classe 1994, affida ai social il racconto di ciò che ha visto e vissuto nelle ore dell’alluvione che ha devastato il Paese. Nel video che accompagna il messaggio, la valle appare sommersa dal fango, irriconoscibile. A giugno per il suo compleanno, Piccinini aveva scritto: «37 giri intorno al sole... Quella candelina di un anno fa mi ha portata lontana da ciò che pensavo dovesse essere. Ho lasciato certezze. Ho accolto cambiamenti. Ho imparato a conoscere ed abitare posti nuovi, fuori e dentro di me». Piccinini è una dei due turisti italiani tratti in salvo nelle aree di Timure e Bhote Koshi, nel distretto di Rasuwa, una delle zone più colpite dall’alluvione. Con lei il compagno, Stefano Lotumolo. Entrambi sono attesi al consolato italiano di Kathmandu per le procedure di rimpatrio. La famiglia ha ricevuto una telefonata che ha chiuso ore di apprensione. Il bilancio delle vittime continua a salire: la polizia nepalese ha aggiornato a 389 il numero dei corpi recuperati. Secondo le prime analisi basate sulle immagini satellitari, il disastro sarebbe stato provocato dal crollo di una porzione di ghiaccio enorme, circa 10 milioni di metri cubi, che avrebbe generato una frana di proporzioni eccezionali, trasformata poi in un’inondazione che ha travolto intere vallate.
