I don't really know what to say here without being overly negative, especially after the first "new" content in months being bugged. So all I'll say is: this should be a curated activity with set modifiers, that you can choose either solo or with a group. The portal custom modifier selections absolutely drains any enjoyment out of this and I'm tired of having to customise activities. I miss how it was implemented last year.
I ran Praxic Getaway Warlock as I wanted this done without much pain. I might run other builds throughout the week. I don't know if this will change daily or not.
