Shirin Ebadi, prima donna iraniana e prima musulmana a ricevere il Nobel per la Pace (2003) «per il suo impegno nella difesa dei diritti umani e a favore della democrazia» appena scesa dal palco dopo la serata evento di domenica sera «Il giorno che le donne hanno conquistato le piazze»” del Festival Women & the City ha salutato le calciatrici iraniane, la capitana Atieh Mazi, Dorsa Aslani e e Sarah Behnoud di Torino Iran Femminile e insieme a loro e a un gruppo di studentesse e studenti ha intonato l’inno iraniano. «Stato un momento di grande e indimenticabile emozione. Un abbraccio finale con le parole dell’inno che resterà indelebile» ha commentato l’avvocata Deniz Ali Asghari Kivage, attivista per i diritti delle donne iraniane e componente del direttivo di ToxD. Giurista, avvocata, scrittrice e pacifista, Shirin Ebadi divenne la prima giudice donna in Iran, ma fu costretta a lasciare il proprio incarico dopo la rivoluzione degli ayatollah, che la privò di carriera e diritti. Da allora si batte per la democrazia nel suo Paese, nel quale non può tornare perché costretta all’esilio, e non solo, lavorando moltissimo nella difesa delle donne, dei bambini e dei rifugiati. L’incontro con Shirin Ebadi è stato introdotto da Elena Baralis, prorettrice del Politecnico di Torino. Polito attraverso il Cug il Comitato Unico di Garanzia presieduto dalla professoressa Alessandra Colombelli ha co-organizzato l’evento con Shirin Ebadi con Torino Città per le Donne, l’associazione che promuove «Women & the City».
