LA MASONERÍA
Nacida en Londres en 1717, la masonería especulativa derivó de los antiguos gremios de canteros medievales, cambiando la construcción física por la moral mediante el uso de símbolos arquitectónicos para el perfeccionamiento ético. En 1877, la institución sufrió un gran cisma dividiéndose en dos corrientes irreconciliables: la Regular, de origen británico, que exige creer en Dios y excluye a las mujeres; y la Liberal, de origen francés, que admite ateos y mujeres, defendiendo fervientemente el laicismo y el debate político. Históricamente, a través de sus ritos alegóricos y logias, funcionaron como redes estratégicas e intelectuales fundamentales para gestar la Revolución Francesa y las independencias de Estados Unidos e Hispanoamérica. Sin embargo, su relativismo moral le ha valido la condena rotunda de la Iglesia Católica y otras confesiones religiosas. Aunque los académicos desmienten las teorías conspirativas y satánicas a su alrededor, la masonería opera en la actualidad como un potente grupo de presión. En definitiva, es una institución de dos caras: por un lado, fue un motor vital para el desarrollo de la democracia y los derechos civiles, pero por otro, su marcado secretismo e histórica infiltración en el poder mantienen vivas las sospechas sobre sus verdaderas intenciones en la sociedad actual.Por Javier rubio Donzé
