I residenti lo denunciavano da tempo. Prima ancora che il video registrato lo scorso ottobre dal professore Vincenzo Tondi Della Mura finisse in rete, così come tanti altri prima del suo. La litoranea che collega Otranto a Santa Cesarea Terme, una delle strade più belle del Salento e d’Italia, diventata per certi versi un circuito di corse clandestine tra motociclisti con gente che arriva da tutta Italia, è spesso teatro di incidenti, con feriti e con ieri anche con vittime. E per questo alcuni residenti hanno lanciato una petizione per fermare le corse clandestine sulla strada provinciale 358, un’arteria fondamentale per il traffico lungo la litoranea che si inserisce nel cuore del Parco Naturale Regionale Costa Otranto - Santa Maria di Leuca e Bosco di Tricase “Costa D’Otranto”.Lungo quel tratto, come viene sottolineato nella petizione lanciata su Change.org, non si registra solo il transito quotidiano di auto e motocicli, ma vere e proprie corse calandestine in moto. E uno dei due motociclisti brindisini - Salvatore Antonaci e Pierpaolo Delle Grottaglie - che domenica hanno perso la vita lungo la litoranea, secondo quanto dichiarato da alcuni testimoni alle forze dell’ordine intervenute ieri pomeriggio sul luogo dell’incidente mortale, pare stesse assistendo a una gara quando è avvenuto l’impatto tra le due potenti motociclette.
