El primer ministro chino, Li Qiang, declaró el 24 de septiembre durante su encuentro con el secretario general de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas, António Guterres, al margen del debate general del 80º período de sesiones de la Asamblea General de la ONU, en Nueva York, que China está dispuesta a colaborar con la ONU para implementar la Iniciativa para la Gobernanza Global y promover la construcción de un sistema de gobernanza mundial más justo y equitativo.Por su parte, Guterres afirmó que esta iniciativa, propuesta por el presidente chino, Xi Jinping, tiene una rica connotación, ya que sus conceptos centrales están estrechamente alineados con los valores defendidos por las Naciones Unidas.
