En este vídeo te llevo conmigo a un viaje que hice en 2005, cuando Fidel Castro aún estaba vivo y la isla seguía atrapada en su propia narrativa. Lo que empezó como turismo acabó convirtiéndose en otra cosa: una confrontación directa con la miseria, el silencio, la propaganda y esa extraña mezcla de dignidad y desesperación que se respira en la Cuba real.Desde La Habana hasta Santiago, atravesando carreteras vacías, ingenios abandonados y pueblos detenidos en el tiempo, fui entendiendo algo incómodo: hay sistemas que sobreviven precisamente porque fallan. Y hay relatos que se sostienen aunque la realidad los desmienta a cada paso.
Hablo de las jineteras del Malecón, de los hoteles para turistas que funcionan como una burbuja artificial, de la pobreza que aparece en cuanto das unos pasos fuera del decorado… y de ese momento imposible de olvidar en un ingenio, rodeado de personas que pedían lo esencial para sobrevivir.
También hay una reflexión incómoda sobre cómo se percibe Cuba desde Occidente. Sobre esa defensa ideológica que ignora lo que ocurre dentro de la isla. Sobre la distancia entre el relato y la vida real.
