Right Livelihood Award 2026 LIVE: ‘Alternative Nobel Prize’ Laureates Revealed

The recipients of the 2026 Right Livelihood Award are announced in Stockholm, honoring individuals and organizations working on human rights, social justice and emerging global challenges. Among this year's laureates are Pakistani lawyer Jalila Haider and Ethiopian-born AI researcher Abeba Birhane, alongside a Georgian legal rights organization and a network of women farmers across Southern Africa. Founded in 1980 by Swedish-German philanthropist Jakob von Uexkull, the award is often seen as recognizing efforts beyond the scope of the Nobel Prizes. Organizers say 200 nominations from 72 countries are considered for this year's awards.
