Pakistan, the world’s most famous bailout-seeker, has now taken its “skill” on tour, with Saudi Arabia and Turkey in tow. As Houthi missiles keep hitting Saudi airports and oil sites, the three Mecca Pact countries have gone to Tehran to ask Iran to rein in the Houthis.
Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin met Iran’s top security official Mohsen Rezaei and President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran. Iran says it was Munir who proposed the meeting. It’s the first time the so-called “Islamic NATO” has met Iran as a group since the Houthis escalated their attacks on Saudi Arabia.
