Drone canggih itu menghantam ladang minyak Khurmala yang terletak di Provinsi Arbil, wilayah semi-otonom Kurdistan Irak.
Kendati ledakan ini cukup dahsyat, namun tak mengakibatkan korban jiwa.
Meski demikian, ledakan ini menimbulkan kerusakan material pada infrastruktur penting di kawasan energi tersebut.
Serangan ini juga memicu kekhawatiran mengenai stabilitas di salah satu wilayah yang selama ini menjadi pusat eksplorasi minyak dan gas di Irak.
Sebagai informasi, satu drone terdetiksi jatuh di dekat Bandara Internasional Arbil pada Selasa (15/7) dini hari.
Lokasi Bandara itu menjadi kawasan vital yang menampung pasukan Amerika Serikat dan aliansi internasional dalam misi pemberantasan terorisme dan pelatihan militer di wilayah tersebut.
Hingga berita ini diturunkan, belum ada pihak yang mengaku bertanggungjawab soal rentetan serangan tersebut.
Terkini, aparat keamanan Irak bersama pasukan keamanan regional Kurdistan, tengah melakukan penyelidikan intensif terhadap sisa-sisa drone dan pola serangan yang terjadi.
Selain itu, aparat juga memperketat penjagaan di area fasilitas vital.
Termasuk ladang minyak dan pusat militer internasional di wilayah tersebut.
