Lewat karya setebal seribuan halaman itu, Yusron mencoba mengurai Kembali babak sejarah yang terjadi 60 tahun lalu.
Ia menegaskan novel yang ditulisnya bukan sekadar fiksi, melainkan berangkat dari riset dan catatan sejarah.
"Meski saya sebut novel, saya bukan sekadar ngarang-ngarang. Saya melakukan riset bertahun-tahun. Novel itu saya beri sejumlah catatan kaki dan daftar referensi lho," kata Yusron Ihza saat wawancara eksklusif bersama Direktur Pemberitaan Tribun Network, Febby Mahendra Putra, di program Ngobrol Bareng Cak Febby (Ngocak Febby), di Studio Tribunnews, Jakarta, Rabu (1/10/2025).
Dalam wawancara itu, Yusron menyinggung keterlibatan Partai Komunis Indonesia (PKI) pada tragedi 30 September 1965.
Meski ada peran tokoh PKI, menurut dia, partai tersebut bukan aktor utama pada tragedi G30S 1965.
"PKI jelas terlibat dan saya pun juga tidak bermaksud membela PKI. Tapi saya meluruskan sejarah bahwa PKI terlibat dalam G30S itu sahih adanya. Tetapi pertanyaannya, apakah betul PKI adalah otaknya?" ujar Yurson.
CIA, Kennedy, dan Irian Barat
Dalam triloginya, Yusron mengaitkan peristiwa G30S dengan sejumlah peristiwa besar dunia mulai dari keterlibatan CIA di Indonesia, pembunuhan Presiden AS John F. Kennedy pada tahun 1963, perebutan Irian Barat.
"G30S itu satu paket dengan pembunuhan Kennedy," tutur Yusron.
"Pertarungan antara Kennedy dengan lawan-lawan politiknya itu, yang di Amerika itu pentasnya itu Jakarta."
