LIVE: Israel Gaza Ceasefire Deal |Trump's Greenland Bid | Vantage This Week With Palki Sharma | N18GNegotiators reached a deal on Wednesday ( January 15) for a ceasefire in the Gaza war between Israel and Hamas, following 15 months of conflict. The agreement came after months of intermittent negotiations, brokered by Egyptian and Qatari mediators with support from the United States. It was announced just ahead of the Trump Inauguration on January 20. However, both Donald Trump and Joe Biden are vying for credit after the ceasefire deal was finalised. While the framework for the agreement was laid out by Biden last year, reports suggest it was pressure from the Trump team that helped secure the deal. After the announcement, Trump wrote on Truth Social, "We have a deal for the hostages in the Middle East. They will be released shortly. Thank you!" Meanwhile, Biden claimed that the deal was reached under “the precise contours” of a plan he set out in late May. Who should receive credit for the ceasefire?
