Pemicunya karena kapal AS berlayar mendekati perairan Iran.
Media Tasnim mengidentifikasi kapal perusak AS tersebut sebagai USS Fitzgerald.
Dari pantauan helikopter Angkatan Laut, kapal tersebut bergerak menuju perairan Iran.
Hal ini dianggap sebagai tindakan provokatif dan Iran langsung mengeluarkan peringatan agar USS Fitzgerald mengubah arah.
Menurut sumber militer, kapal perusak AS tak terima dan mengancam akan menyerang helikopter Iran jika tidak mundur.
Namun, peringatan terus dilakukan berulang kali hingga USS Fitzgerald menjauh dari perairan tersebut.
Iran mengatakan bahwa helikopternya didukung penuh oleh sistem pertahanan.
Sementara itu, seorang pejabat Pentagon membantah klaim bahwa kapal perusaknya mundur setelah berhadapan dengan helikopter Iran.
Menurutnya, interaksi dengan helikopter "Sea King" Iran berlangsung aman dan profesional.
Ia pun menegaskan bahwa misi kapal tetap berlanjut dan tidak terpengaruh.
