Konflik ini telah menewaskan lebih dari 300 orang, menurut Observatorium Suriah untuk HAM (SOHR).
Bentrok dipicu insiden pemukulan seorang pemuda Druze yang memicu aksi balasan berdarah.
Pemerintah yang awalnya mengerahkan militer ke lokasi, akhirnya menarik pasukan sebagai bagian dari kesepakatan damai.
Menurut pakar Timur Tengah Bente Scheller, konflik di Sweida mencerminkan ketegangan lama antar komunitas yang merasa haknya diabaikan.
Bentrokan juga diwarnai oleh isu penyelundupan narkoba dan kriminalitas yang memperburuk ketegangan lokal.
SOHR melaporkan bahwa militer Suriah dan pasukan sekutunya mengeksekusi 19 warga sipil Druze, yang memicu serangan udara balasan dari Israel.
Netanyahu membenarkan serangan tersebut sebagai upaya melindungi kelompok Druze yang dianggap sebagai minoritas loyal di Israel.
