Die norwegische Inselgruppe Spitzbergen in der Arktis war jahrhundertelang nur für Bergleute, Polarforscher und Eisbären interessant. Aufgrund eines einmaligen internationalen Vertrags konnten sich Bürger vieler Staaten dort ansiedeln und friedlich miteinander leben. Bis heute wird das von vielen Wissenschaftlern genutzt. Doch gerade ändert sich das, denn die Inseln liegen in einer Region, die für Russland und die NATO zunehmende strategische Bedeutung hat, auch wegen des Klimawandels. Die Spannungen auf Spitzbergen und in seiner Umgebung nehmen zu. Es gibt sogar Befürchtungen, der Kreml könnte die Inseln genauso annektieren wollen wie US-Präsident Donald Trump das mit Grönland vorhat.Kapitel:
