Adapun aksi tawuran pada Minggu (9/6/2024) dini hari itu menjadi awal mula peristiwa kematian Afif.
Kapolda Sumbar Irjen Pol Suharyono dalam keterangan pada Rabu (3/6/2024) mengklaim pihaknya memiliki bukti bahwa Afif merupakan pelaku tawuran.
Suharyono bahkan menyebut, Afif yang mengajak rekannya tawuran sembari memegang pedang panjang.
Lebih lanjut Suharyono memastikan Afif tak pernah ditangkap ataupun dibawa ke Polsek Kuranji, Kota Padang saat kejadian.
Suharyono menerangkan, saat kejadian, Afif bersama rekannya Aditya mengendarai motor.
Namun saat polisi tiba, kedua bocah tersebut jatuh karena ditendang petugas dari motor.
Suharyono menyebut, Aditya mengatakan bahwa dirinya diajak Afif untuk melompat dari jembatan agar dapat melarikan diri.
Meski begitu, penjelasan dari polisi ini tak diterima oleh pihak keluarga yang masih berkeyakinan Afif disiksa oleh petugas.
Pihak keluarga Afif yang didampingi oleh LBH Padang meminta Kapolri dan Kapolda untuk fokus mencari siapa pelaku penganiayaan terhadap Afif, bukan sibuk mencari siapa yang memviralkan kasus ini.\
