Dalam wawancara eksklusif dengan Tribunnews, ia membagikan sejumlah rencana dan tantangan besar menjelang penyelenggaraan haji 2026 dan pembangunan Kampung Haji 2028.
Dalam menyikapi pembatasan usia oleh Pemerintah Arab Saudi, Gus Irfan menegaskan pendekatan berbasis kesehatan.
“Pemerintah Saudi beberapa kali berupaya menetapkan pembatasan usia. Tapi bagi kami, kalau umur 80 tahun masih sehat, kenapa tidak berangkat? Yang penting sehat,” ucapnya dalam wawancara eksklusif di Studio Tribunnews, Jakarta, Jumat (10/10/2025).
“Umur 40 kalau tidak sehat, ya tidak akan kita berangkatkan.”
Ia menambahkan, prioritas lansia tetap diperhatikan, namun kesehatan tetap menjadi syarat utama.
Lebih jauh pemerintah berharap pembangunan Kampung Haji dapat mengurangi biaya penginapan dan memberikan kenyamanan bagi jamaah.
“Untuk kampung haji ini, kita harapkan 2028 sebagian atau 1–2 tower bisa dipakai. Bukan untuk untung banyak, tapi untuk efisiensi dan kenyamanan jamaah,” jelasnya.
