Watch this video as Firstpost explores how Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traore is championing women in science and redefining national development. Following the nationwide suspension of beauty pageants to protect cultural identity and social values, the government has pivoted toward intellectual empowerment through initiatives like 'Hakili Mousso'—a national science competition spotlighting young female talent in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. President Traore, a scientist himself, is pushing for home-grown technical mastery and industrial self-reliance, emphasizing that building an independent nation requires a workforce capable of mastering advanced disciplines. We break down how Burkina Faso is placing brilliant young women in the spotlight to manufacture more, import less, and stand stronger. Alyson Le Grange brings you more on this story on Firstpost Africa.---
