Every 3 years, the Government gives us this ONE chance

We have a chance to actually control our own devices

US Federal Register Notice: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/10/28/2026-21939/exemptions-to-permit-circumvention-of-access-controls-on-copyrighted-works

Every 3 years the US Library of Congress has to decide on which exemptions they'll grant for the law that prohibits bypassing copyright protection software. This is extremely important for users who want full control over their devices. Without it, it would be illegal to access our own data on many devices, fully control them, or modify them even though we physically own it. This is because of DRM which is meant to block such access or modifications, and it is literally illegal to bypass, UNLESS an exemption is made. Now it is once again time we can submit comments to the government on why they should grant certain exemptions like this.
