Lima tahun kemudian, laut di atas Shioshishio membeku dan daratan memasuki musim dingin yang berkelanjutan. Chisaki mengunjungi kakek Tsumugu, Isamu, di rumah sakit sebelum kembali menemui Akari dan putranya, Akira. Dalam kesempatan itu, mereka mengenang bagaimana Miuna menghibur Akari setelah dia mengetahui bahwa dia hamil dan terlalu khawatir tentang Hikari dan yang lainnya. Sementara itu di sekolah, para siswa diberitahu bahwa Tomoebi akan terjadi di atas laut dan mereka memutuskan untuk mengadakan pesta di pantai. Kemudian Miuna diperingatkan oleh Sayu bahwa salah satu teman sekelas mereka berniat untuk menembaknya dalam acara tersebut. Mengetahui dirinya tidak bisa pulang ke rumah, Chisaki dibawa ke rumah Tsumugu oleh Isamu dan mereka tinggal bersama. Sampai kemudian Isamu dirawat di rumah sakit dan Tsumugu pergi untuk belajar oseanografi di perguruan tinggi untuk mempelajari lebih lanjut tentang situasi di desa-desa laut dan hubungannya dengan perubahan iklim di seluruh dunia. Selama Tomoebi, Miuna ditembak oleh temannya, tetapi dia menolak, mengklaim bahwa dia sudah menyukai orang lain. Cahaya aneh muncul dan Tsumugu yang sedang mempelajari fenomena dengan gurunya, bertemu Miuna di tempat di mana cahaya muncul dan mereka menemukan Hikari. Dia tidak bertambah tua sama sekali semenjak hari itu.
