21 Ocak 2025'te Bolu'nun Kartalkaya bölgesindeki Grand Kartal Otel'de çıkan yangında 36'sı çocuk 78 kişi hayatını kaybetti, 133 kişi yaralandı.Yangında kapsamında yargılanan 32 sanıktan 11'ine olası kast ile öldürme suçundan müebbet hapis cezası verildi. 19 sanık bilinçli taksirle öldürme suçundan hüküm giyerken üç sanık beraat etti.
Bilirkişi raporuna göre otelin restoran bölgesindeki elektrikli ızgaranın açık unutulmasıyla başlayan yangın kısa sürede kontrolden çıktı. Sürece personelin eğitimsizliği ve oteldeki temel önlemlerin alınmaması da eklenince alevler tüm pteli sardı.
