Born on 2 November 1935, Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay is one of the most celebrated writers in Bengali literature. He has created a wonderfully quirky world in Bengali children’s fiction. Far from being frightening, the ghosts in his stories are often harmless, unassuming and amusing. Some even become friends and well-wishers of humans. One such benevolent ghost appears in 'Kalachander Dokan'. First published in the 1988 Puja Shankhya of Anandamela, the story was later included in his popular collections ‘Chhotoder Bhooter Golpo’ and Bhoutik Galpasamagra.
শীর্ষেন্দু মুখোপাধ্যায়ের জন্ম ২ নভেম্বর ১৯৩৫ সালে। এই প্রবাদপ্রতিম সাহিত্যিক বাংলা কিশোর সাহিত্যে সৃষ্টি করেছেন এক অদ্ভুতুড়ে জগত। তাঁর অজস্র ভৌতিক গল্পে এমন সব ভূতেদের দেখা মেলে যারা মোটেও মানুষকে ভয় দেখায় না। শীর্ষেন্দু মুখোপাধ্যায়ের গল্পের ভূতেরা বেশ নিরীহ, ছাপোষা, মজাদার। এমনকী কখনও কখনও তারা মানুষের বন্ধুও হয়ে ওঠে। তেমনই এক উপকারী বন্ধু-ভূতের দেখা মেলে তাঁর লেখা কালাচাঁদের দোকান গল্পটিতে। ‘কালাচাঁদের দোকান’ গল্পটি আনন্দমেলা পূজাবার্ষিকীতে আত্মপ্রকাশ করে ১৯৮৮ সালে। পরে শীর্ষেন্দু মুখোপাধ্যায়ের জনপ্রিয় গল্প সংকলন ‘ছোটদের ভূতের গল্প’, ‘ভৌতিক গল্পসমগ্র’ বইয়ে অন্তর্ভূক্ত করা হয়।
Story:
Nabin Babu has been transferred to Nityanandapur. While his wife is thoroughly fed up with yet another house move, he finds himself posted to this remote, godforsaken village. Struggling to juggle the challenges on both fronts, Nabin Babu one day stumbles upon a rather unusual shopkeeper. But who is he?
