To mark the start of the season, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, in collaboration with the European Central Bank, is once again hosting the »Europa Open Air«. Around 20,000 visitors regularly come to enjoy the extraordinary atmosphere on the banks of the river Main during these late-summer concert evenings.

Zum Saison-Auftakt lädt das hr-Sinfonieorchester gemeinsam mit der Europäischen Zentralbank wieder zum Europa Open Air. Rund 20.000 Besucher lassen sich regelmäßig bei den spätsommerlichen Konzertabenden von der außergewöhnlichen Atmosphäre am Ufer des Mains begeistern. Wie immer unterstützt von »Elisabethen Quelle«, liegt diesmal ein Hauch von Fernweh und musikalischer Exotik in der lauen Frankfurter Abendluft, während das Publikum berühmten Komponisten auf ihren echten oder imaginierten Abenteuern folgt. Wenn der eine Franzose nach Ungarn und der andere nach Spanien reist, ein Russe nach Italien, ein Norweger nach Nordafrika und schließlich ein Amerikaner nach Paris, breiten sich mitreißende Melodien und Rhythmen über Picknickdecken und Biertischen aus. Eine ganz besondere Note steuert schließlich der französische Akkordeonvirtuose und Komponist Richard Galliano zum Europa Open Air 2026 bei – mit Tango-Klängen von Astor Piazzolla sowie seinem eigenen »Opale Concerto«, das faszinierend zwischen Klassik, Jazz, Musette und Tango changiert. Am frühen Abend bereits sorgen die hr-Bigband und der mit zwei »Grammys« ausgezeichnete US-amerikanische Jazzsänger Kurt Elling für die ersten musikalischen Highlights und gute Stimmung am Main. Gastronomische Angebote runden in guter Tradition das Europa Open Air des hr-Sinfonieorchesters und der Europäischen Zentralbank ab, zu dem alle Musikfreund*innen wieder sehr herzlich begrüßt werden.
