📖 The film *The Tenant*, directed and written by Rahim Rahimipour (1992), tells the story of Hamid and Maryam — a young couple who move out of Hamid’s father’s house after a conflict and rent an apartment owned by an elderly couple. The landlords refuse to rent to families with children, forcing Maryam to hide her pregnancy. As the landlords become suspicious, they start spying on the couple. Eventually, under pressure and homelessness, Hamid gives in to his mother’s request to return home. A social drama that reflects the struggles of ordinary families facing housing and moral challenges in urban life.
