(Agenzia Vista) "Sarebbe stata una delle caratteristiche proprie alla Costituzione italiana quella di voler essere anche una carta di valori, di avviare un processo per la loro attuazione, con le norme definite programmatiche. Giovanni Spadolini avrebbe individuato, in questo, la fusione tra gli ideali di indipendenza e unità del Risorgimento con gli ideali ‘nuovi’ della Resistenza e della lotta contro la tirannide. Una delle interpretazioni critiche del lavoro dell’Assemblea Costituente tendeva a presentare lo sforzo di dialogo e di sintesi, che lo contraddistinse, come un compromesso nel senso deteriore del termine, il cui esito si sarebbe tradotto in strutture fragili della Repubblica. Nulla più, secondo quei critici, di un baratto tra i principali protagonisti, allora la Democrazia Cristiana, il Partito Socialista, il Partito Comunista, ciascuno dei quali avrebbe puntato a salvaguardare visioni se non interessi propri. Al contrario, si obbediva a un principio elementare che si è, via via, affermato nel comune sentire dei cittadini: la Repubblica è di tutti".
