Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar returned to Patna on Friday after taking the oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha in Delhi.
It is widely speculated that Nitish Kumar may resign from the post of Chief Minister of Bihar within the next 2–3 days; however, suspense still surrounds the question of who will succeed him as Chief Minister. A meeting of the BJP's core group leaders was scheduled to take place in Delhi on Friday to discuss this issue. Both of Bihar's Deputy Chief Ministers, Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha, had also arrived in Delhi, but the meeting was cancelled, following which both Deputy Chief Ministers returned to Patna. During Nitish Kumar's oath-taking ceremony in Delhi, leaders of the Bihar NDA were present alongside Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, JP Nadda, and Arjun Ram Meghwal. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has set a record by becoming a member of all four legislative houses. This marks his first entry into the Rajya Sabha, having previously served as a member of the Lok Sabha, the Bihar Legislative Council, and the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Nitish Kumar.
