The Massacre Russia Tried to Pin on Ukraine
Hopefully justice for this awful event comes soon4 years ago today, Russia murdered more than 50 Ukrainian POWs. The largest such killing of the entire war to date. In a flurry of disinformation, Russia quickly accused Ukraine of targeting their own men with a HIMARS rocket. A claim that has since been investigated and rejected by the United Nations.
Today we’re talking with two men to better understand what happened here and why it still matters so much today. Nestor Barchuk, Head of international relations on POW issues First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine. Gennady Kharchenko, a soldier of the 12th Azov Brigade who survived the attack that night and was later returned home in a prisoner exchange.
