El efecto mariposa (titulada The Butterfly Effect en inglés) es una película de suspenso, ciencia ficción y drama de 2004 escrita y dirigida por Eric Bress y J. Mackye Gruber, y protagonizada por Ashton Kutcher, Amy Smart, Eric Stoltz, William Lee Scott, Elden Henson, Logan Lerman, Ethan Suplee y Melora Walters. El título de la película es una referencia al llamado «efecto mariposa», según el cual «el aleteo de una simple mariposa puede provocar un tifón al otro lado del mundo».
