À l'occasion de la 82ème Hiloula de Rabbi Israël Abi'hssira — Baba Salé Hagadol de Colomb-Béchar — et du 1er Rassemblement des Juifs de Colomb-Béchar (2 juin 2026), deux témoins se retrouvent pour lui rendre hommage.Eliahou Abi'hssira, son petit-fils, et Meyer Amouyal, dont Baba Salé fut lui-même le mohel (circonciseur), nous livrent leurs souvenirs, leurs témoignages et les miracles qu'ils ont vécus ou transmis de génération en génération.
Rabbi Israël Abi'hssira — à ne pas confondre avec son cousin germain, le Baba Salé de Nétivot — était la figure spirituelle centrale de Colomb-Béchar, ville du Tafilalet entre l'Algérie et le Maroc. Grand faiseur de miracles, il se levait chaque nuit à 'Hatsot pour réveiller les habitants de sa ville, accomplissait les Mitsvot avec une rigueur absolue, et son humilité forçait l'admiration de tous ceux qui l'approchaient.
Rabbi Israël est décédé le 18 Sivan 5704 (1944). Que son mérite soit pour nous une bénédiction.
