We're taking an exclusive behind the scenes look around this stunning aircraft parking lot at the foot of the Pyrenées. We meet an Etihad A380 about just finishing up its several months-long return to service protocol, we see dozens of other aircraft parked that will never fly again, as they're slowly stripped for parts, we tour the hangars where TARMAC offers maintenance services, and even meet one of the first A350s to ever get a 12-year C check (see if you recognize which one it is!)
We also see a brand new Boeing 737 MAX being dismantled, climb inside a completely stripped Airbus A330, take a look at the place where hundreds of parts from each aircraft are meticulously cataloged, recorded and then put up for sale, and visit the engine shop and aircraft parts operation to see a growing side of their business. And we learn a thing or two about how the business side of all this works, from airlines to manufacturers to lessors and brokers – and how TARMAC sits right in the middle of all of it, a key node in the wider industry supply chain and logistics flow.
From long term storage and heavy maintenance to dismantling and recycling, this is a look at what happens between an aircraft’s last flight and whatever comes next.
