Zhang Zhi Jie Meninggal, Kemenlu Tiongkok Sampaikan Duka Cita
Juru Bicara Kementerian Luar Negeri Tiongkok, Mao Ning menyampaikan belasungkawa atas meninggalnya pebulu tangkis tunggal putra Zhang Zhi Jie saat bertanding di kejuaraan Badminton Asia Junior Championship di Yogyakarta, Indonesia pada Minggu 30 Juni.Menurut Persatuan Bulutangkis Seluruh Indonesia (PBSI) dan Bulu Tangkis Asia peristiwa itu terjadi saat pebulu tangkis yang berusia 17 tahun tersebut bertanding melawan wakil dari Jepang Kazuma Kawono. Sebelum dinyatakan meninggal dunia pada pukul 23:20 WIB, Zhang sempat kejang dan pingsan di lapangan hingga kemudian dilarikan ke RSUP Dr Sardjito Yogyakarta.
Sementara, Asosiasi Bulutangkis Tiongkok (CBA) mengatakan kepada China Newsweek bahwa mereka telah berkomunikasi dengan pihak Indonesia. Mereka sempat khawatir apakah Zhang telah menerima perawatan medis tepat waktu sesaat setelah kejadian.
