Starmaker

This is my seventeenth video.
I will admit that it has been a rather lethargic start to the year. This video is my longest to date, but that does not justify the delay in its production. Today, there is talk of stars. Of civilisations and God. The video is also largely centred on Olaf Stapledon's novel 'Starmaker' - which I highly recommend you read at least once before you die.
Now I shall explain the delay. A version of this video, titled 'We are Never Leaving Earth' and predominantly focused on the Kardashev Scale, was meant to be released way back in December, alongside 'Instructions for a Cr*ppy Life'. Both edits of those videos were lost to the untimely corruption of my SSD, but the scripts mercifully survived. Upon remaking that version I became entirely disheartened with its quality - it was lacking in some intangible substance. I moved on to a completely unrelated topic (which will now be the next video).
But then I read 'Starmaker', and I am compelled to return to space.
To resurrect the dead project, and repurpose its elements into a true frankenstein of a video - just as an excuse to discuss the book. A couple rewrites, a whole lot of cutting, and boom. One brilliant mess that almost makes sense. I think. Hard to tell really - I will have to watch it back with fresh eyes in a couple of years. Besides, I am sure most of you will just be happy to have something new to watch.
At least this video is comparatively lengthy, perhaps it will satisfy your content addiction for a moment or two. I wish to return to monthly uploads soon, but I am constantly warring against my own whims and fancies.
And time has cruel habit of escaping me.

As always, I extend my personal gratitude to my Patrons and channel members:
