Russia Ukraine War LIVE: Ukraine Says Russian Drone Attack Sinks Ship in Romanian Waters

Russia-Ukraine tensions are spilling deeper into the Black Sea after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy blamed Russian drones for an attack that set fire to and sank a Turkish-owned grain ship in Romania’s exclusive economic zone. The vessel, Royad Mammadov, was carrying corn from Ukraine toward Italy when it caught fire and later sank. Romanian authorities confirmed that two crew members died and 11 were rescued, with one survivor injured. The ship carried Azerbaijani and Indian nationals. While Ukraine says two Russian drones struck the civilian vessel, Romanian authorities have not officially confirmed the cause of the fire. The incident raises fresh concerns over maritime security and the potential spread of the Russia-Ukraine war toward NATO-member Romania and other Black Sea waters.
