Drawing on her father’s illness and her experience helping a family with extensive resources, Kat Kajderowicz explores why medical information and expert opinions can still leave patients overwhelmed. As AI makes information more accessible, she argues that the next challenge is turning knowledge into coordinated care and confident decisions. Her central idea: every patient deserves a quarterback to help navigate what comes next. Kat Kajderowicz is a neuroscientist with a PhD from MIT. Her doctoral research at the Whitehead Institute explored how cells from hibernating animals survive extreme cold, with potential applications in organ preservation and therapeutic hypothermia. A Cornell University graduate and 2023 Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow, she previously conducted research at Harvard Medical School. Her experience caring for her father during his cancer illness informs her interest in helping patients navigate complex medical decisions.
