Menurut mereka, ketakutanitu dipicu oleh intelijen AS yang megnklaim Rusia sedang mempertimbangkan untuk meningkatkan dukungan kepada Hizbullah.
Adapun seorang pejabat senior AS yang berujar bahwa Presiden Vladimir Putin mempertimbangkan pengiriman rudal jelajah antikapak untuk Houthi.
Pasalnya hingga saat ini Houthi masih melancarkan operasi miiter terhadap kapal-japal terafiliasi Israel di Laut Merah.
Terlebih pada 2023, Wall Street Journal melaporkan Grup Wagner berencana memasok sistem pertahanan udara Rusia kepada Hizbullah.
Pada awal tahun 2024, Rusia menerima kunjungan utusan Houthi di Moskow.
