King's Speech: König Charles eröffnet britisches Parlament
Rund zwei Wochen nach dem Regierungswechsel in Großbritannien hat König Charles III. mit royalem Pomp das Parlament eröffnet. Der Monarch verlas das Regierungsprogramm des neuen Premierministers Keir Starmer. Der 61-Jährige ist der erste Regierungschef der sozialdemokratischen Labour-Partei seit 14 Jahren.In der „King’s Speech“ wurde eine ganze Reihe von Gesetzesinitiativen angekündigt, mit denen Starmer Probleme wie die Wohnungsnot, bröckelnde Infrastruktur und schlechte Anbindung an öffentliche Verkehrsmittel in den Griff bekommen will. „Stabilität wird der Grundpfeiler der wirtschaftlichen Politik meiner Regierung sein“, las König Charles aus dem Programm vor, das mehr als 35 Gesetze umfasst. Wirtschaftswachstum sei die „fundamentale Mission“.
