The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) called off its protest "with immediate effect", asked protesters who had gathered at Delhi's Jantar Mantar to return to their homes. The party announced its decision at a joint press conference with the central government on Saturday, hours after the protests over leaks in the NEET competitive exams forced the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Pradhan’s resignation apart, the satirical political group and supporters from the student fraternity had demanded that police cases filed against students should be withdrawn and Rs 1 crore given as compensation to families of students who died by suicide after the exam scandal. The CJP spokespersons said they received assurances from the government that no cases would be filed and “maximum compensation” would be offered to the student families.---
