Mexico’s most-wanted drug lord, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes — better known as El Mencho — has been killed in a high-intensity military operation in Jalisco. The leader of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), who carried a $15 million U.S. bounty, reportedly fell after a critical tip from one of his girlfriends helped authorities pinpoint his location.According to Mexican officials, elite forces launched a coordinated land-and-air raid near Tapalpa after confirming his presence. The operation triggered a fierce gun battle, with cartel gunmen allegedly firing heavy weapons and forcing a military helicopter into an emergency landing.
El Mencho, long considered one of Mexico’s most dangerous cartel leaders and a rival to the Sinaloa Cartel, died of injuries sustained during the operation, authorities said.
