很多男人從小就被教導：要獨立、要有成就、不能示弱。看起來擁有比較多權力，生活裡卻一直被「還不夠好」追著跑。失業會連帶動搖身分，關係受挫也容易被理解成男性價值的失敗。許雅淑的《何苦為男？》，從男孩成長、職場競爭一路談到親密關係與暴力，讓讀者看見父權如何給男人權力，又用資格檢定控制男人。這本書的最大價值，落在整理與翻譯。它把過去艱深的性別研究，帶回一般人能夠理解的日常生活。
這一集從書的價值出發，也繼續追問：理解之後，然後呢？如果每個困境都要附上一套 how to，方案會不會成為新的壓迫？可是，什麼方案都不談，理解又會不會變成推卸責任的擋箭牌？
我也會談到「抹茶男」與混合型男性氣質。當一個人熟悉女性主義與情緒語言，回到關係裡仍然把照顧、勞動與後果交給別人承擔，進步便只剩下包裝。
有毒的男子氣概變少，但有害的掉包概念變多。
一篇針對六個社區爸爸團體的研究，也提供了另一個改變方向。男人未必需要先學會深度告白。有時只是看見另一個男人如何安撫孩子、參與照顧，就會開始調整自己的行動。方案有時是一個環境，先讓不同的活法被看見。
當舊的男性標準被拆掉，我們得到更多自由，也必須回答：離開那些舊角色之後，我們願意如何為人？
