The president of one of the largest public dealership groups, Sonic Automotive, said on a recent earnings call that automakers are "not going to sit back and lose billions and billions of dollars" due to tariff costs. So far they seem to have been eating the costs of trade barriers--prices have not risen much since they were introduced.
