Durante il congresso del Partito del Socialismo Europeo svoltosi a metà ottobre 2025 (subito dopo l'ordigno che ha distrutto l'auto del conduttore di Report Sigfrido Ranucci), Elly Schlein ha pronunciato un discorso in cui ha unito due temi nello stesso intervento:Ha criticato duramente l'esecutivo Meloni affermando che «quando l'estrema destra è al governo sono a rischio la democrazia e la libertà di parola».Per la premier Giorgia Meloni e per la maggioranza di governo (tra cui il Presidente del Senato Ignazio La Russa che ha rilanciato quel video), aver espresso solidarietà per un atto criminoso all'interno di un duro attacco politico al governo rappresenta una grave insinuazione. La destra accusa Schlein di aver gettato fango sull'Italia all'estero, creando un nesso di causa-effetto e suggerendo implicitamente che l'ordigno a Ranucci fosse una conseguenza diretta del clima politico generato dal governo.
