„Die Sondierungsgespräche haben in einer offenen und konstruktiven Atmosphäre begonnen“, teilten CDU, CSU und SPD am Freitag mit.Als einer der schwierigsten Punkte in den Gesprächen gilt die Forderung von Merz, an Deutschlands Grenzen auch Asylsuchende zurückzuweisen. Dies hält die SPD bisher für nicht mit dem Grundgesetz und EU-Recht vereinbar. Weitere Streitpunkte sind unter anderem das Bürgergeld und der Mindestlohn.
Bei dem ersten Treffen habe Bundesfinanzminister Jörg Kukies (SPD) der Runde zunächst einen Überblick über die Haushaltslage gegeben, erklärten die drei Generalsekretäre von CDU, CSU und SPD, Carsten Linnemann, Martin Huber und Matthias Miersch.
