Der Marshall-Plan – Europas Rettung nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg?

Der Marshall-Plan gilt als wirtschaftlicher Neuanfang in Europa nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Große Teile Europas sind zerstört, Millionen leiden Not, überall herrscht Mangel. Der Marshallplan (offiziell: European Recovery Programm, kurz: ERP), ausgearbeitet von der Regierung des US-Präsidenten Harry S. Truman und US-Außenminister George C. Marshall, soll Abhilfe schaffen. Er sieht vor, beteiligten Staaten umgerechnet insgesamt 185 Milliarden US-Dollar zur Verfügung zu stellen.

Aber zu welchen Bedingungen? Die geförderten Länder müssen vier Dinge akzeptieren, bevor sie das Geld erhalten. Eines davon: Die USA erhalten Einfluss in Europa. Die Sowjetunion sieht sich dadurch bedroht. Und tatsächlich hofft Präsident Truman, mit dem Marshallplan den Einfluss Moskaus und Stalins in Europa verringern zu können.

Warum der Marshallplan bis heute Europa prägt, zeigt euch Mirko. Welche Effekte hat die Förderung durch die USA? Ist der Marshallplan nach dem Krieg der Schlüssel zum europäischen Wirtschaftswachstum? Und was bedeutet er für das geteilte Deutschland?
